Building an A7l replica Apollo Moon Suit

Thank you for your interest regarding my efforts to reproduce the amazing Apollo spacesuits. I started this project because I wanted a reproduction suit, only to find that the $37,000 to $42,000 "professional" or "Film quality" reproductions are, well...frankly pathetic. Not to mention too expensive. Any one who can tell the difference between an A7L and an A7lb would be disappointed.

 

I never really intended to sell parts or suits, but I have had so may request I am trying to fulfill.  Its tough balancing a reasonable price with recovering my cost and a little for my time. And you would be surprised how much of both are involved. If I didn't have a "Day Job" I would certainly be broke by now. Also I don't take pre-orders. I will not sell something I don't have yet. When they are ready I will let everyone know.

Where have all the heroes gone? Here is a compelling reason to increase NASA's budget; Heroes. That's right, Heroes. Modern America has none. Not real ones anyway. When my father was young there where any number of heroes to pattern yourself after. Jimmy Doolittle, George Patton, Pappy Boyington, Douglas MacArthur to name a few. And when I was growing up the space race was in full swing! We had heroes like Al Shepard, Alan Bean, Charlie Duke, Wally Schirra, John Glenn, John Young, Neil Armstrong, Jack Schmitt, Buzz Aldrin, Pete Conrad and Story Musgrave just to name some that come to mind. These are just some of the heroes standing on the shoulders of thousands of other heroes that put America on the moon. And in so doing inspired millions of school kids to work a little harder at mathematics and science with the dream of becoming an astronaut or engineer. These heroes inspired everyone involved to work just a little harder, stand a little taller and pay a bit more attention. Because, who knew, maybe that valve you are working on will be in the LEM that puts the first man on the moon. Or the second or twelfth. I believe if NASA has a real goal, like the return to the moon, and is supplied a proper budget, the return on the investment will be great. Remember in that one decade of the 60's we advanced materials and electronics by more than a hundred years. Cell phones, non-stick pans and personal computers all owe they're existence to Apollo. I don't know what the names will be, but doesn't my son deserve to have heroes to inspire him?
