Snoopy…two

January 26th, 2009 alexylenov 3 comments

Here are some pictures of a rather hastely assyembled communications carrier. I made from stuff I had on hand. The fabric is not the best choice, but its the details I was interested in. Making a model while I had the original to look at allowed me to work out the the shape of each piece. The next one I make will be more refined, and hopefully of a better fabric.

Following the "Snoopy cap" are a couple of shots of the progress on the suit-side disconnect prototype.snoop1ddfeer41516110719

Having access to some of the nicest and most helpful people in the EMU business can sure come in handy sometimes. I was lucky enough to borrow this Communications soft hat. I only have it for a short time, so I immediately started snapping pictures and taking measurements.snoop1snoop2snoop3snoop4snoop5

Connecting with your connectors…

January 19th, 2009 alexylenov 1 comment

start of glove The photo above is the beginning of the first suit-side glove disconnect. Well, not really the beginning. You see It started with a search lasting six months or so for a piece of aluminum tube of the right size to turn these. The inside diameter of the suit-side disconnect is a fraction less than four (4) inches. And the outside is around 5 1/4 inches.conector2 So I settled on a piece of aluminum tube six inches O.D. with a one inch wall thickness. I am lucky enough to have a metal reseller just 14 miles away, so I put them on the hunt. Just before Christmas I got a call saying they could get me a piece. So I ordered it.shiney! The pictures show the state of the connector after 20 or so hours of turning.

Work on the LS Connectors continues. As does the sewing. The ITMG is progressing nicely as I add details where ever I can. I have the last two gas connectors started. Here is a picture of the completed connectors as well as the electrical connector and both the pressure relief valve and the UD valve. gas These all will have to be anodized befor they are installed.itmg

I am not sure what happened, But I have been unable to login to update my blog. Until today, and I see I am missing some post.

Oh well, I guess we will move on.

I am making some small progress with my suit, mostly in the form of turning the rest of the connectors. Here are some pictures of the last couple.connector1connector2connector345
